Located in Lixian county, Aba autonomous prefecture, southwest China's Sichuan province, Ganbao Tibetan Stone village is a representative village of Tibetan style. Ganbao means "village on the hills" in Tibetan. This village is one of the largest and best-preserved Tibetan villages in Sichuan province. The entire village is built at the mountainside, house by house. The architectural style is unique, simple and natural.
The history of Ganbao Tibetan stone dates back to 2,500 years ago. It was an important military fortress in Qing Dynasty. Today, the historic remains such as military training grounds and podium can still be seen.
In the earthquake in 2008, the village was partially destroyed, but with the financial help of the local and central governments, it was rebuilt and the ancient Tibetan culture was restored. Nowadays, the village is attractive to tourists from all over the country with its unique Guozhuang dance, folk songs, dresses, customs, as well as its religious culture, stone culture, and farming culture.
