On March 29th, the Spring Arbor Day was celebrated in University Town Campus, with Chairperson of University Affairs Committee Du Xiaoming and faculty representatives attending the activity.

The plantation was carried out near SCUT’s main gate and Block B4, as a group of faculty members planted rhododendron pulchrum, a rhododendron endemic to China, which is known for bright color and elegant shape of its flower.

Du Xiaoming indicated that the campus landscaping projects should accommodate the nature environment while it is carefully designed as an ecological view consisting of multi-species and multi-layers.

In addition to existing trees in University Town, the university intends to bring more flowering plants at different height into the campus. These include low-layer plants like rhododendron pulchrum, middle-layer plants like Lagerstroemia indica, and high-layer plants like blue jacaranda.

Meanwhile, small landscaping areas like mini gardens will also be installed around student dormitories and teaching buildings.
