In June, The Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2015 was released. According to the list, South China University of Technology is ranked at the 84th in the 100 top Asia universities. This is the first time SCUT enters the list.
The THE Asia University Rankings are based on the same criteria as the THE World University Rankings, which is powered by Thomson Reuters. It is viewed as one of the three most influential and widely observed university measures in the world, judging world class universities across all of their core missions - teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
SCUT is one of China's 43 key universities under the direct leadership of the China State Ministry of Education and is widely recognized as one of the most creative and influential universities in China. This reputation has its basis in the University's historical commitment to innovative courses, cross-disciplinary teaching and research, and flexible and high responses to society needs.
The university, which has a total area of 294 hectares, is situated in Guangzhou, a southern metropolitan in China. The university has two campuses: The North Campus and the South Campus.
